Happy New Year!
There’s something so refreshing about waking up on January 1st, the world quiet after the holidays, and looking ahead to a year full of possibilities. It was exactly this time in 2021 when I decided my word for the year would be intentional. At the time, I was a new realtor, determined to sell 20 homes in a year. It felt like a big goal, but I believed I could do it by being intentional about how I spent my time each day.
I knew it wasn’t enough to just want the goal—I had to touch my dream every day. I created a vision board and hung it on my wall where I could see it every morning. Each day, I reminded myself why this mattered to me. Some days were discouraging, especially when I didn’t see immediate results. But every time I looked at that board and saw the word intentional, I refocused on taking small, purposeful actions.
And it worked. My first year in real estate was exhausting and I sold one home. My second year was better with eight homes sold. But in 2021, I sold 18 homes—more than double the year before—and I hit my financial goals. The difference wasn’t luck or sudden expertise. It was INTENTIONALITY. Every day, I built habits and routines that kept me focused on the bigger picture. Those small daily steps gave me the confidence to keep going, and that confidence created momentum. Momentum, in turn, led to results.
Intentionality is about more than just doing the right things; it’s about aligning your actions with your purpose. When you’re intentional, you create clarity and focus, which builds confidence. That confidence fuels momentum, and momentum leads to results. Whether you’re pursuing a professional milestone, building a healthier lifestyle, or strengthening relationships, intentionality can transform your approach and your outcomes.
If you’re stepping into 2025 with big dreams but aren’t sure where to start, you’re not alone. The key isn’t to overhaul your entire life overnight. It’s to start small and stay consistent. Let’s explore three steps to help you live with intentionality this year.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by big goals or dreams. That’s why starting small is so powerful. Each small action you take sends a message to yourself: I’m capable. I’m doing this. Whether it’s dedicating 10 minutes a day to learning something new, reaching out to one person to build your network, or simply writing down your priorities for the day, those small steps build confidence. The more confident you feel, the more likely you are to take the next step.
Habits are the building blocks of intentional living. Think of them as the foundation that supports your dreams. Start by identifying one habit that aligns with your goals. For example:
- Spend five minutes each morning reviewing your vision board or writing down your intentions.
- Schedule time for your most important task before distractions creep in.
- I like using my client’s DISC profile to help align their actions with their natural strengths.
The goal is to create routines that make intentionality automatic. As those habits take root, you’ll find it easier to stay focused and consistent.
Reflection is where intentionality comes full circle. At the end of each week, take time to evaluate your progress. Ask yourself:
- What went well this week?
- Where did I face challenges, and how did I respond?
- What wins can I celebrate, no matter how small?
Celebrating even the smallest progress reinforces your confidence and keeps your momentum going. It’s a reminder that you’re moving forward, step by step, toward the life you want to create.
